A work permit is a legal document which allows you the permission as a foreign national to engage in employment while inside of Canada. The work which does not tie an employee to work as a single employer or location is referred  to as an open work permit, this means that international workers with valid and open work permits can work for multiple employers in multiple locations throughout Canada. It should be only for certain open work permits where they have any additional requirements and restrictions with foreign nationals.

While working in Canada also has many benefits. Canadian labor laws ensure that workplaces have a high-degree of safety and that all employers follow certain laws and regulations to ensure the well being of their employees. In addition, Canadian wages are competitive and foreign nationals are required, by law, to be offered wages equivalent to their Canadian counterparts.

There are many different options for working as Canadian work permit. Please refer to the categories below to determine the work permit which best suits your qualifications:   Requiring a Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)

LMIA Work Permits : A Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) is a document issued by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) assessing the impact of hiring a foreign national in Canada. In a Labor Market Impact Assessment there is no Canadian citizen or permanent resident to fill a position, therefore enabling an employer to hire a foreign national. A negative Labor Market Impact Assessment indicates that a position should be filled by a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.

Global Talent Stream : The Global Talent Stream is a two-year program which was launched in June 2017 through a partnership between Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and Employment and Social Development Canada. Employers who are successful through the program will be able to expedite the process for hiring foreign nationals through the Global Skills Strategy. As the GTS is part of Foreign Worker, all successful employers applying to the stream will be issued a positive Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) prior to the official hiring of a foreign national. In order to meet employers general requirements, they must verify all their additional requirements in whichever category they wish to apply for.
