The Comprehensive Ranking system is the Government of Canada’s points system for ranking candidates based on a variety of factors.

Eligible candidates can submit a profile into the Express Entry pool, where they are ranked according the Comprehensive Ranking System criteria. The Government of Canada regularly issues Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for Canadian permanent residence to the highest ranked candidates through draws from the pool.

In Family Sponsorship category, the sponsored person(s) must be related to the Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident in one of the following ways:

  • Spouse, common-law partner, or conjugal partner; or
  • Parent or grandparent; or
  • Dependent child; or
  • Orphaned, unmarried, and under 18 years of age brother, sister, nephew, niece, or grandchild; or
  • Intended adopted child under 18 years of age; or
  • One other relative, if the sponsor has no relative listed above and no relatives who are Canadian citizens or Canadian permanent residents.
  • Having a valid Passport or Travel document
  • You have to convince a Visa officer that you have strong ties (job, business, home and family) with your country of origin.
  • You should have enough money for your stay.

Any person in Canada, who is not Citizen or Permanent resident of Canada, needs a valid work permit to work in Canada.

You have to get admission to a Canadian Designated Learning Institution (DLI) recognized by the government of Canada. First, you have to receive a letter of acceptance from a DLI, and then you apply for a study permit. A study permit is generally issued for the duration of the person’s studies.

A student must have a valid study permit and be enrolled full-time at a Designated Learning Institution (DLI). Study permit holders may be allowed to work for up to 20 hours per week during regular academic sessions and full time during scheduled breaks.
